Creating in the Time of Corona

Art mimics nature; so it's understandable why there are so many offerings that centralises the pandemic. The thing about it is that there is no escaping it. If you don't watch the news, you will read about it on social media, uninvited messages and in your email as the major reasoning behind cancelled gigs and lay-offs.

The presence of art makes this period somewhat bearable and reassures me that there is some sort of gold in the midst of isolation. One day we will be given such a gift of good health and freedom that we can look back and read all the creations that detailed the ways we've survived.

A couple things though, it's easy to be totally consumed by the worry and ooze the type of art that even you cannot return to, BUT, it is also very necessary during this time. It's like a purge.

Social Distancing has a plus side, besides not getting corona of course. It is also a time to reflect and sit with yourself and check in. We don't get much alone time nor moments we can look within because life is fast and everything has become so demanding that we forget ourselves.

Some artists are being hit really hard by this lockdown, cancelled gigs means little to no income and that in itself is a nightmare. I want to urge folks and even myself to pitch in. Whatever way you can, whatever you can spare; Call a friend, message them, take their account number/ ask what they need. GIVE, no matter how small.

Because the truth is, we're all struggling but all struggle isn't the same.
